Aloha Intermediate Wrestling Families
This Saturday, December 13, 2008, there will be an “in house” intra squad wrestling Tournament involving only the entire Punahou Intermediate Wrestling Team, and Punahou freshman wrestlers who have been practicing with the varsity program. Our event is being arranged as an alternative to the PAL Tournament in Kahuku (saving most of us a loooooong drive and an even longer day).
Here is the schedule
7:30 – 8:30 a.m. - Wrestlers report and warm up
8:00 – 9:00 a.m. - Pre-Competition meeting for Parents, scoring table set up,
and Wrestlers pre-competition briefing
9:00 – 11:00 a.m. - Competition (note: Competition period and timing for subsequent
things may change depending on length of matches, number of matches, etc.)
11:00 – 11:30 a.m. - Breakdown mats and put away scoring table gear
12:00 – 1:30 p.m. - Potluck
All Intermediate wrestlers will be able to wrestle in tournament round robin conditions, with referees, timekeeping, and scoring. This will be an excellent introduction to tournament style wrestling for our newer members, without the pressure of a highly charged all-comer’s type competition. The coaches will be striving to arrange round robin groupings that fit each=2 0wrestler’s age, weight and level of development.
We thought this would be an ideal opportunity for Intermediate Team Families to get to know one another outside the wrestling room. Therefore, we are also planning a pot luck gathering for lunch and fellowship to take place after the tournament ends and the wrestlers have had a chance to shower. We hope to get permission to hold the potluck in the area outside the cafeteria and snack bar, right downstairs from the Forrest Hall.
We are looking for pot luck contributions in the following areas:
Drinks
Main Dish
Starch
Vegetable
Dessert
Paper Products
Please contact me, Jan Remillard at the above email about bringing pot luck items. We will try to balance out contributions so that we have enough in each category.
Aloha, Jan Remillard
